Summer 2020

Our Sunrise Movement hub supported the protests in downtown Austin by creating signs with original stencils, spray paint, acrylic paint, and foam board. These signs were originally used at the protest on June 7, 2020, in which thousands of people marched from Huston-Tillotson University to the Capitol. The community re-used the signs throughout the summer.

Our hub also supported the protests with relief stations, which provided food, water, personal protective equipment, and first aid to protesters. I was the lead organizer of the relief stations, and I coordinated hourly safety check-ins for Sunrise youth activists who were participating in the protests.
